DRM inside Co., Ltd
Kim, Tae hyun CTO
Web browser-based services can deliver optimal data processing and user interface solely with the HTML5 standard. This allows for the provision and sharing of content across various operating systems with minimal maintenance costs.
However, a drawback exists: the platform is vulnerable to content replication prevention. Because of this, many digital contents have not yet transitioned to web-based services. Observing recent internet trends, a multitude of web-based services, such as webcomics, web novels, e-books, videos, music, informational websites, fintech, and financial sites, have been subjected to data extraction methods like web crawling, scraping, and screen capturing. This data is then illicitly used or leveraged as business data by competitors.
To combat this, various service providers have employed techniques to prevent web content replication, such as controlling a massive volume of requests in a short time, web browser feature control, and URL access restriction. Nevertheless, concerns persist among service providers because bypassing methods still exist.
In this lecture, we will:
1. Enumerate all the existing content extraction types in web-based services.
2. Explain the fundamental prevention technologies and measures against these extraction attacks.
3. Introduce commercial web content protection solutions that encompass these prevention techniques.
4. Through case studies of solution implementations, well examine how web content replication was fundamentally blocked.
